Spring Migration

The Hooded Warbler is one of the most abundant species encountered during spring migration at Kennesaw Mountain.   The early date for spring migration is March 29th .  The single day high count for this species in spring is 66 individuals observed! The late date on the mountain during migration  is May 27th, although the species is a probable breeder elsewhere in the park.

Fall Migration

This is one of the first returning warblers in the fall.  Early migrants have been found on Kennesaw as early as July 2nd.  These birds are no doubt local breeders from nearby areas that are dispersing.   The single day high count for this migrant is 22 individuals.  The late date for this species is October 30th.
