All three of us saw the bird, and we agreed that it was a cuckoo based on flight style, shape and color. Pierre is virtually certain that it was a Black-billed based on the uniform brownish gray color of the head, mantle, back, tail and wings, and the fact that there was no hint of rufous in the primaries. We had an unobstructed view of the bird as it flew across us for three or four seconds. We did not call the bird because we could not see the bill clearly nor the undertail pattern."
