There was a definite increase in activity over the past two days. The mountain was active almost all the way up. We arrived at the #1 marker post at 7:50AM and had already had several small flocks with 8 species of warbler including the first Magnolia of the fall. By 8:00AM at marker post #3 we ran in to another flock including Blue-winged and Canada. At 8:20AM, between marker posts #5 -7, we had another large flock and added several Chestnut-sided, Blackburnian, Cerulean and another 2 Canada warblers. We reached the trail to Little Kmt, at 9:15 and between here and the top of the mountain, there were plenty of birds. We added American Redstart, Yellow, Worm-eating, Ovenbird and Black-and-white as well as 2 Blue-winged, many Chestnut-sided, and several Blackburnians and Ceruleans. We headed back down the mountain at 10:15 with 13 species and it was very quiet untill we reached the bottom and had a Pine singing. A total of 14 species and pretty good numbers for late August. later, BZ Home page URL: http://pages.prodigy.net/bobzarem/ KMT page URL: http://pages.prodigy.net/bobzarem/kmtn.htm Listing of band codes: http://pages.prodigy.net/bobzarem/band.txt August data from KMT: http://pages.prodigy.net/bobzarem/august.htm
